About Us
Named after a lake in the Piedmont region of Italy, Lago d’Orta is considered one of the most coveted hidden gems by its Italian residents. The old joke is to send everyone to Lago d’Como and keep Orta for themselves.
Orta Trattoria is a hidden gem in the town of Kingston, MA. Their principle restaurant Orta Risotrante in Pembroke gave birth to this sister location and with that, the Williams family has brought their expertise of central and northern Italian fare to the new location of Orta Trattoria. A blend of casual comfort food with a slightly elevated ambiance. Orta will transcend your senses and immerse you in a world of comfort and relaxation. Enjoy a dinner at one of our tables or relax and unwind with cocktails in our bar or Lounge area. Orta is a place where you can celebrate a special occasion or just celebrate the end of a long work day. We look forward to taking care of you.
Chef Brett Williams
Born into the culinary business as a member of the Lombardo family, Brett developed a sense for hospitality at a young age. Assisting his grandfather in their home kitchen as a child turned into a career for him as an adult. Brett began his journey under acclaimed Boston chef Jimmy Burke. Under Jimmy’s tutelage, Brett honed his senses and fueled his passion for the restaurant industry. At a crossroads of whether to head to culinary school or travel, Brett took the road less traveled and hopped on a plane for Florence, Italy. It was there he discovered the undeniable magic behind Italian cuisine. Working under chefs Benedetta Vitali, Marco Bernocco and Valeria Piccini, Brett has spent much time studying the art of these renowned Italian chefs. One thing he likes to say is “For me Italian food is more of a state of mind than a label. There are no Italian restaurants in Italy; there is only a universal technique for cooking. It is clean, simple and uncomplicated.”
With that, Brett brings his love and knowledge of Italian food and wine to Orta Trattoria.
